Application context
The treatment problem
RO elements are sensitive to suspended solids, colloids, scaling, organic fouling, biological growth and oxidants. A membrane pretreatment step may reduce particulate load but cannot manage every RO risk.
Pretreatment selection depends on source water, upstream process, RO recovery and supplier feed-water requirements.
Important: Low turbidity alone does not prove an RO feed is safe. SDI, dissolved chemistry, organics and biological conditions also matter.

Can ceramic membrane guarantee a low SDI?
Performance depends on feed, pore structure, integrity and operation. Verify targets through approved data or pilot work.
Does membrane pretreatment prevent scaling?
No. Scaling is driven mainly by dissolved-ion concentration and chemistry; dosing, softening or recovery changes may be required.
Is a cartridge filter still required before RO?
Many RO systems use cartridge filtration as final protection. Follow the RO system design and supplier requirements.
