Industrial wastewater membrane selection is a process decision, not a catalogue choice. Define the water, treatment objective and surrounding unit operations before comparing products.

Characterize the wastewater

Map source streams, variability, temperature, pH, suspended solids, oils, organics, metals and salts. Identify cleaning or batch events that create peaks.

Define the separation objective

Clarification, biomass retention, particulate pretreatment and dissolved-salt reduction require different membrane processes.

Design the surrounding process

Pretreatment may include equalization, oil removal, precipitation, biological treatment or oxidation. Residuals and concentrate must be included.

Verify and compare lifecycle

Use approved technical data and consider piloting for difficult water. Compare cleaning, energy, membrane replacement, downtime and operator requirements.
